WIND DANCING 1992

Rotating painted aluminum, painted steel arcs and spiral rotate independently turning the central spiral reflecting light and wind

28ft. h x 16ft. 8in. diameter rotation around its mast

Initially commissioned by David Bermant Foundation: Color, Light, Motion for traveling exhibitions.

My first wind-driven sculpture featured 6 points of movement. Wayne La Pierre and I began our collaboration together by fabricating my design into its winged prism shapes. Joe Welch, a mechanical engineer assisted us in the development of the interior fittings required to allow the sculptural elements to balance and move freely.

The sculpture was also displayed at the Elaine Benson Gallery in Bridgehampton, NY until 2006.
